Cyclic Redundancy Check

Veritas Backup Excec 10.0 SBS on Win 2003 Server.
Tape: Sony AIT 3 SCSI
Veritas fails the backup job with error: V-79-57344-34028.
This error has a multitude of possible causses, and I think I have tried all listed on Veritas/Symantec webbpages.
When I look i the Media pool on the tapes, the are marked as : Not Appendable(End marker unreadable) under the Appendable until column. I can format the tapes and import them into the media pool again and they are fine. But after a backup or two the same error will appear again. This don't occur on all tapes. But on 19 out of 20 soo i don't bellive there's something wrong with the tapes. It might be the tapedrive and I'm contacting Sony about that. I hope somebody here has had an similar problem and can help me with this.

Hi Mikael!

This could be caused by either a dirty tape drive, bad media, or a SCSI problem.
