D02443E_7002 ERROR The Wizard was....

When installing Veritas Backup exec, it copies over all the files (or seems too ) the reports installing service D02443E_7002....etc hangs there for about 15 seconds and then rolls back the install leaving only a temp file which is un delete-able.

here is the last few lines of the log

i have tried everything suggested by veritas, e.g re-installing MSDE, Re-Downloading the program etc ,

any help ?

Hello,

The Majority of installation problems are related to permissions:

VERITAS uses the Windows Installer Service to setup applications.
These step are provided to check that Windows Installer has required permissions to install applications.

1.-
Check NTFS permissions of WINNT, WINNT\SYSTEM32; C:\; C:\Program Files; and %TEMP% (you can use the SET command) with other box.
Add the SYSTEM user and the Administrators groups with Full Control.

2.-
You can also reinstall Windows Installer from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=4B6140F9-2D36-4977-8FA1-6F8A0F5DCA8F#filelist

If the OS reports that the version is the same, you can re-register Windows Installer this way:
C:\> msiexec /unreg
&
C:\> msiexec /regserver


3.-
You should also install the utility
OFF2000: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q238413
and launch it to clean all the installations referred to VERITAS.

4.-
Before trying the installation again, we'll delete the file C:\WINNT\bkupinst.log

If the issue remain sunresolved please revert with the latest bkupinst.log file.
