D2D2Tape delayed

Not sure if this is possible or not.  I have a disk storage location created with file backup job writing to it.  Full on Mon, Inc Tue-Sat.  On Sunday I want to duplicate all these jobs from the disk storage location to a tape unit ie: Mondays full plus Tue-Sat Incrementals.  Is this possible or will I need to write the backup job (F or I) after it completed but before the next scheduled run?

There does not appear to be a stand alone 'Duplicate to Tape' routine.  That would be great if such a feature were available to read the catalogs in the Disk Storage Location and mirror them onto tape.  Then one could restore directly from tape.

Thanks for any feedback/responses.

Hello,  What version of Backup Exec are you running:

For Backup Exec 2012 see http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH187265

or Backup Exec 2010 https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/techtip-automating-backup-exec-disk-disk-tape-opera...

Please note the following from the BUE 2012 admin guide:

"You can select to duplicate one or more individual backup sets or you can duplicate an entire job history. The job history includes all of a backup definition's dependant backup sets. For example, if you select to duplicate an incremental backup, Backup Exec automatically duplicates all incrementals dating back to, and including, the last full backup."

So you may want to run this duplicate job before the weekly full to ensure that all the previous week's incrementals and the last full (which took place the weekend before) are copied to tape at once. If you run it after the full, it may only duplicate that full and not the incrementals - i would recommend testing this.

You dont have to.

Yes its possible

From the storage tab, double click on the storage device

Select the backup sets you want to mirror

Hit the duplicate icon on the top

Select the device where you need to mirror the data

First off thanks for the immediate response.  It is version 2012 and I will read through the links.

@Kunal.  I did make that selection however it does not appear to have written anything to the tape as the media still shows full capacity is available.  This may be due to the fact the schedule was started mid-week and I chose the 'Run initial full backup now in addition to selected schedule'.  That may have complicated things.
