DELL TL1000 on BE15

Good day,

I've installed BE15 (version 14.2) on a new Windows Server 2016 machine and connected a Dell TL1000 robotic tape library to it.

Windows picks up the TL1000 under 'Tape drives' and installs a Microsoft driver (DRIVERS\ltoptape.sys and tpfilter.sys).  I'm unable to use the TL1000 from BE although it does list as Tape drive and Robotic Library.

I gather I need to install the Symantec drivers for this unit (since the IBM/Dell drivers did not work either) - how do I do this? tapeinst.exe won't work as it is newer than Server 2012.

Hi,

Have you check the tape Library Mode is Random or Sequential.

Same setting can be open via tape Library web browser. Physical/Logical Setting.

Please check and confirm.

It is on Sequential.

We can get BE to detect the tape in the drive, inventory, label and backup to. However, it doesn't do anything for the Robotic library, ie, cannot inventory slots etc.

Hi,

Set the Tape Library to Random and restart the Windows Server.

After restart you will get Medium Changer Device in Control Panel.

After medium changer device shows in Device Manager you can use the Tape Library.
