DLO or Remote Agents for Desktops/Laptops?

Hello All,

I've got a number of WinXP Pro x64 machines that I need to backup.

The last time I had to buy BEx, it was back in the days of v7.5 when remote agents for Win/Linux/Mac were free, and the remote agents were the only option for backing up those desktops/laptops.

Now I've got to buy those 'agents'. The question is do I get DLO licenses (10 at a time) or Backup Exec 12 Agent for Windows Systems?

My vendor says that the Agents are really for servers and cost somewhere about $400 a pop, whereas the DLO option costs ~$170/10 licenses. Does this mean that remote agents don't exist any more for desktops and laptops?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have to say I'm not happy with this change in licensing.  I've used this product from Seagate BackupExec through to Veritas without any change and now Symantec has the product for a while and decides to CHARGE for workstation agents?

I think we pay enough for the product and addon features now without having to charge for a simple workstation backup.
