Data recovery - Hard disk failure

Dear all, I am going through the 5 stages as my laptop crashed and may personal back-up standards were poor. I am just an IT-user, so simple answers please.

I asked IT if they could send my laptop/hard-disk to a provider to try to recover my data but the reply was that everything is encrypted (we run Symantec-applications on our laptops). I am still hoping that there is a way to get most of it back so all feed-back welcome.

Unfortunately, a disk which crashes is very difficult to recover and in your case the problem is compounded by the fact that it is encrypted.  Your best hope would be to send it to a data recovery specialist which is going to be very expensive.
