Deduplication and the pd.conf file in BE2010

Can you modify the pd.conf file on a remote agent to enable compression and/or encryption?  Is this supported?

Currently both are set to disabled or 0.  I want to change it to 1

As I understand it, compression is needed to further optimize the dedupe process, and the only way you can do client-side dedupe and encrypt your data stream, is via this file.  You cannot enable encryption and dedupe as it'll encrypt before it gets deduped, negating the dedupe.  However modifying the pd.conf should make it work.

Consider that the encryption setting relates to securing the transmission between the client and the server - not the data as it is stored on the destination device.
