Deleting IMG folders (ese.dll)

Not applicable
Hi,
because we have to remove a B2D folder from a partitions, we followed the exactly manual (~ Page 230-233).

B2D Folder was a target for Exchange Backups with "Enable the restore of individual mail messages and folders from Information Store backups".

Moved Medias to into Retired Media and delete them there. Finally we delete the folder from BackupExec Manager. Everything works fine. Now we want to remove the artifacts from the partition, bhut the "ese.dll" resist.

We looked at: https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=115&thread.id=19294

We will not shutdown the server and go into save mode, to delete some files!

So should we do?

I found the answer here:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Storage/Backup_Restore/Backup_Exec/Q_23081736.html

It reads:

We have found that ese.dll has a filehandle or lock on it by WMI. THe following Pre and POST commands solved it for us (without the quotes): "taskkill /f /im wmiprvse.exe". This would allow a B2D to delete the previous IMG000XX folder that would normally only contain ese.dll, which could not be deleted manually via windows explorer. We do not know if this is caused by Backup Exec WMI Provider or WIndows OS WMI Service. Hope it Helps. Cheers!

It worked

I'm so disappointed that I could not find the answer at any place with Symantec,
