Device paused

HI.

My problem is that I am trying to do a restore of some files.
I do all the preparations necessary for the procedure and presses run now.

The job status goes in to running but after a few seconds it changes to "device paused" and stops.

I am running backup exec 9.1 for windows server.
I have checked all setting for any paused devices but fail to find any.

Anyone who have any ideas on this matter would help me as I have run out of ideas.

Best regards

/Daniel

-- Restart all BEWS services and then try to perform a restore operation.

-- If this does not help, then perform following steps :

1. Open Backup Exec

2. Go to Devices tab > Right click on the tape drive > uncheck "Enabled"

3. Again right click on the tape drive and select "Delete"

4. Stop all Backup Exec services

5. Start all Backup Exec services, and verify if the tape device is detected.

Now, try to perform restore job and observe the result.

Kindly check for any alerts to be responded. Also see if the server is paused. If paused, kindly un-pause the Server. You may refer to the following TechNote for more details.
Title: " Device jobs remain in a "pending" or "Queued" state indefinitely; and "scheduled" jobs do not run at their appropriate time. "
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191594.htm

We also recommend you to go through the following steps.
1. Open BEUtility from the path C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT.
2. Right click ' All media servers '. Locate your server in the right pane. If it is not listed, kindly right click ' all media servers ' and enter a new media server i.e. your server name.
3. Repeat the steps and select ' Repair Database '
4. You will then see the operation in progress.

1) Ensure that there are no Alerts pending to be responded , please check the Alerts tab.

2) To isolate the issue perform a backup job with Windows native backup utility (NTBACKUP).

Note: Stop all the Backup Exec services prior to performing backup with NTbackup.

3) Disable removable storage (RSM) service. In most of the cases, it has been seen that VERITAS device driver does not work properly with RSM. Please refer to the following technote:

Technote:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/231679.htm

4) Stop all non essential third party software and Antivirus software services prior to backup.
