Difference between 11D and 9.0

 Hi,

I'm currently doing a review of our backup software and wanted to know if anyone acutally has a comparison of version 9.0's software to whats offered/changed/improved in version 11D.

Management needs convincing that the upgrade is worth the cost of upgrading. My job is to tell them how we aren't completely protected...

We currently run 1 windows 2000 advanced server, 1 linux server and the rest of 3 servers are Windows 2003 or higher.

We currently have in place:

Backup Exec 9.0 (4367)
SQL Server Agent (backing up SQL 2000)
Exchange Agent (protecting an exchange 2003 server)
IDR agent (not sure if this is even working now.
Unix/Linux Agent (agent.be for protecting our Linux server).
4 x Backup Exec Server Agents

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jasen

Go to the main support page at

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/overview.jsp?pid=15047

On the right, select "Compatibility List" for each version to compare the two versions.

Just on GP, I'd upgrade the v9.0 to the v9.1 with the latest SP.  That was one of the most stable builds/versions veritas ever released, and it's free

Additionally, v9.x is officiallly End-Of-Life, so while Symantec will offer to help if you call in a problem, the will not do any troubleshooting on their end.

Also, V11d is two releases old, so if you do upgrade, I'd recommend v12.5 (BackupExec 2010 is due out early next yeat

There are lot of major differences in version 9 and 11.
