I’m running into a problem with my Differential backups acting like Full ones. For the past 4 nights my Differential backups have been backing up entire directories instead of just the changes.
Here’s what I normally do:
Full Weekly - This job happens once a week. The “Backup Method” for the Full Weekly job is set to “Full – Using archive bit (reset archive bit).
Daily Differential - This job runs every other night that the Full does not. The “Backup Method” for the Differential job(s) is set to “Differential – Using archive bit (does not reset archive bit)”.
I’ve check the logs and the physical amount of data on the servers being backed up and they match so I know it’s backing up the entire drive and not just the changes. A review of my logs proves this as well.
Since this started 4 days ago I have run Symantec Live update and pushed the latest RAW files to all servers. At this point I’m thinking of recreating all jobs.
