Differential backups with CPS selections

We recently installed CPS and we're replicating data from a file server.

When we run a differential on the CPS destination, it seems to include all the data so it seems to be a full backup, not a differential.

Do differential backups on CPS selections work the same as normal selections?

 Anyone?

Last night the CPS differential backup was 341 GB.  The night before it was 610 GB.  How can that be????

Have you configured the Full backup and the Differential backup to use the modified time option? http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/282628.htm

Brilliant...exactly what I was after.  Thanks!

So I took a full backup of the CPS Protected Resources on the weekend using modified time, but the differential last night was huge and there is no way that that amount of data was changed.

Can anyone help?  What does selecting the protected resources node do anyway?  Can I just select the backup destination folder instead?  The media server is local to the CPS destination but the backup is a lot slower compared to a backup of a local drive.

Please help!

When I select a file to back up in the CPS destination location, it backups the folder but not the file.  What is going on?

Never mind - got it.  You have to stop the CPS services before backing up the CPS destination location. :)

In the CPS admin guide, it says not to do a regular backup of the CPS Protected Resources node given that it contains a lot of redundant data.

I will use this article http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288626.htm to configure pre/post commands for the backup of the CPS destination data.  Hopefully tonight it will be nice and quick.
