Hi,
We are busy creating test scenarios to simulate a disaster recovery. One secenario is a complete disaster like a fire which will require us to be able to restore all our data and servers at another site completely separated from the primary office location.
With this in mind, we've build a small Hyper-V platform based on 2012R2 to run some tests. The idea is that we're converting our servers (Windows 2008R2) to virtual machines. Basically we're doing the following as we thought it would be the most logical way to restore our servers:
- Create new server with Win 2008R2 and Backup Exec 2012 SP3
- Configure storage
- Run an inventory and catalog
- "Convert to Virtual Machine"
This is where it stops. The convert option is grayed out and we don't see why it's grayed out. I've been reading several forums but I couldn't find a way to have this fixed. What are we doing wrong and what should be the right way to do this?
Thank you in advance!

Even if we did have a supported platform (2008 or 2012), the button wouldn't be available.
Seems like a known issue to Symantec: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH210479
Sadly enough, the first workaround doesn't work so we'll try to find another solution...

the other solution is probably create an empty VM and boot it from an SDR DVD disk and do an SDR restore (as long as you have the .DR files.)
