Disaster recovery of the Oracle instance or database

Hello,

I am currently using BE11d 7170 and succesfully backing up an Oracle 10G R2 instance on Linux RH via Agent.

I will be testing a redirected restore of a Oracle instance to a new server with nothing installed except oracle and I would like to ask a few questions.

Do I really really need to create the instance and the database just like the original before proceeding to the restore ?
Is it necessary to install RALUS on the new server and run the AgentConfig utility ?

Any tips or best practices ?

Thanks in advance.

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

You will need to create the Oracle Database using the same you used for the original database.
You will need to install the agent on the server you are trying to restore .

Hello,
After all the steps were followed correctly, when I try do perform the redirected restore I keep getting the same error : Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource.  Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again.
When I configure a backup job, the Oracle  Database does not show the "Open" status.

What can be wrong ?

Thanks again.
