Disk storage goes offline and then back online

I have multible backups destined to disk storages which are defined using network shares of NAS device (Fujitsu Celvin Q802).

From time to time these disk storages goes offline and then after few minutes they come back online again. There has been no BE backup activity at times when this happens. There are no other errors in windows system logs either, only this BE allert about "Device is offline....".

I am wondering:

  • How does BE 2014 determine when disk storage is offline / online?
  • Can I tune parameters related to this somehow?

Maintenance task of BE is not running at that time. There are no messages in logs of NAS at that time.

Hi,  Make sure your backups run at a time when the Backup Exec Maintenance isnt occuring.

Edit:  adding,
Default time for this is 4a.m.  To view and adjust the time it runs go to the Backup Exec button > Configuration and Settings > Backup Exec Settings and under Database Maintenance you can change the maintenance time

Your device is not in the HCL and hence it is not treated and supported. See the HCL below http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH214803 You should test it's functionality with the utility below http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH69107 There is no parameter to set to control when BE tries to sense whether a device is online or offline
