Disk-to-tape backup questions

GeekMan
Level 3

My backups are currently set up to do a backup-to-disk first, then a disk-to tape backup second.  (Full once a week, with incrementals the remainder of the week.)

1.)  What's the best way to perform the disk-to-tape backup, "Copy"?  Or?

2.)  When we had BUE v12.0, I remember a checkbox "somewhere" that let BUE delete the source files, after successfully backing up to tape.  Now that I have 12.5, I can't find it.  Am I supposed to have to go into my disk folders and manually delete the files I just dumped to tape?  Can this no longer be automatic?

Any other advice you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

1)  No, you want to select a "Duplicate" job.  This way you can restore from tape, without having to restore the BKF files to disk, inventory, catalog and then restore

2) You can simply set the OPP (Overwrite Protection Period) for the media set that the disk files belong to so that the BKF files can be re-used, rather than actually deleteing them
