Do I need to import?

Hello,

I'm new to using Backup Exec, specificly we have ver. 2010.  My question is after swapping tapes do I need to do an import?

The steps I've done so far are.

1.  Unlock tape dirve

2.  Removed full tapes

3.  Put in new tapes.

4.  Lock tape drive

5.  Do an inventory

6.  Put new tapes into scratch.

Is there a step I have missed?  Do I need to import the tapes?

Thank you

No (you have not missed a step and don't need to do an import) - the import and export functions relate to using a mailslot in the library.

Mailslots provide the ability to remove tapes without opening the library door (and some libaries don't have them anyway) The robotic arm in effect moves them to and fro between the storage slots and the mailslot of the libary depending on if you are importing or exporting
