Duplicating Domino DAOS enabled Mailboxes hangs

When trying to duplicate a Lotus Domino backup (either B2D or Dedupe) to tape the job hangs after writing the NSF files and NLO files never get written to tape.

The job will hang in a running state for over 24 hrs with no result.

Background:

The Backup Exec server is running BE 2010 R2 on Windows server 2008 R2

The Domino server is a VMWare server running 2008 R2, with Domino 8.5.1 FP2.

The backup to disk runs fine, it is only the duplicate job that presents an issue.

The tape drive is a HP 1/8 G2 autoloader using LTO4 tapes and drives, connected via SCSI.  After some testing with Symantec support, we have ruled out the tape drive itself as the job has the same issues when trying to duplicate to disk based storage also.

The DAOS state is sync'd for all mail files, Windows Firewall is set to OFF for domain networks.

I have had a case open with Symantec since 20/sept/10 with no cause or solution in sight.

 

Is anyone else managing to successfully backup a Domino environment with DAOS enabled and make duplicates?  Please this is driving me crazy!

This issue was caused (oddly) by having Circular Logging enabled on the Domino server.  With this set to ttransactional Logging, the duplicates run fine and have been for 3 weeks or more.

 

SYmnatec are unsure as to why this effect is happening, and why it should affect only the duplicate job and will hopefully look into it further.

Backup Exec successfully marks the logs in Domino as Archived and allows them to be reused, so no worries on fill the log location and crashing the Domino server.

Run live update on the media server and then try the backup job again ..

Also make sure to update the remote agent after you install all the patches Via live update

The Media server and all agents are as up to date as possible. All hotfixes applied, and all agents updated.
