Duplication job fails

BDClark

I have a backup job that backs up a SQL server, and on completion it duplicates to a pool consisting of a couple of Toshiba 3 TB USB drives.  They are swapped out daily for storing off premises.  One of the drives consistently fails the duplication job, unless I reformat it and start all over again.  It'll then work fine for a month or so, and then it starts failing again.  Here's what I see in the job log:

Job ended: Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 3:51:06 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe00084f4 - An unknown error has occurred.
Final error category: System Errors

A simultaneous duplication job to a backup QNAP NAS device completes successfully.  I'm able to access the drive in question with no issues in Explorer, and it's showing as almost completely empty, save for the BEControl and BEData folders.  And again, we never seem to have issues with the secondary USB drive.  Any ideas on what to try?

Hi BDClark,

would you like to check the USB-Disk for bad sectors?

Please check Windows Logs - Application for any bad sectors/bad disk, if I remember right is ID 7.

Regards
