ERASE TAPES PRIOR TO RETENTION DATE

I AM RUNNING BACKUP EXEC 2010 v 13.0 rev 2896 (32-bit).  IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE A TAPE AVAILABLE FOR USE BEFORE IT'S RETENTION DATE EXPIRES?  THANKS FOR THE HELP.

Move the tape to Scracth media set or run a quick erase. that would make the tapes over-writable before

retention date would expire.
