Hi,
I am trying to update Backup Exec 12.5 to BE 2010 on a W2k3 R2 32bit Standard.
The process stops with a V-225-134 Error migrating BEDB , here is the partial log file :

Basically ja...
So you would...
1. Grab a copy of your DB.
2. Use BEutility to dump the DB and reload from base = blank DB.
3. Perform the upgrade.
4. Manually reload the DB from your backup using BEutility.
5. Run bemig to enable you to migrate the details of the DB across.
BIG THING is to get that copy of your Data + Catalogs folders, + a copy of your DB and verify you have them before doing the above...

Thank you very much for your reply,
I already had a look at that post, and tried install SQL Express from the CD before, but it's not working for me
...plus I have to upgrade the same machine and not to migrate to a remote sql server, it's not my case...
thank you any way, still waiting for HELP!

Initially there was a known issue with upgrade from BE 12.5 to BE 2010 which was later resolved with Hot fix.
But I would recommend to directly upgrade to BE 2010 R2 instead of normal BE 2010 as BE 2010 R2 is much more improved version.
You can download BE 2010 R2 from www.backupexec.com

Better to go for BE 2010 R2 but before that check your SCL compatibilty

Thank you all,
I am upgrading to BE 2010 R2, I have not specified correctly in my original post.
I tried several times, all checks on the db are ok, I stopped services or not, with the same result.
... still need help please ...

Hi Cristiano,
Before you do an upgrade, run a Database Repair through BEutility.exe, and then try the upgrade process.
If this doesn't work, you might have to look into replacing your current DB with a backup, which can also be done through BEutility.exe. BEFORE doing that though, I would suggest getting a manual copy (copy the database file elsewhere) of your current DB.
try the upgrade again...

Hi CraigV,
thank you very much for your suggestion
I have already tried all these things with no success... the repair is working correctly, the index rebuild and the consistency check is ok ... but the migration does not work!
I have no other error description that may help, the only one is the migration log I posted...

Mmm...then the only thing I can suggest is...
1. Stop your antivirus and disable the services and try the upgrade again...failing that...
2. Follow this technote and dump your database, and then use it to recover the dumped DB:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH83082
You MIGHT need to run bemig once you do that to migrate the contents of your database to the new version of SQL that will be installed...

Thank you CraigV,
so you are suggesting me to let the migration end normally instead of choose Rollback after the error. And then "manually"upgrade the db with bemig.exe?
I mean... the order of following steps is right ?
- dump the db
- perform upgrade without rollback after error message
- recover the db with beutility
- bemig the db from 12.5 to 2010r2
Or could you please specify the right steps ?
Thank you very much for your help
