ESXi backups

BE2012 & VMWare/Hyper-V Option running on WS2008R2 x64

ESXi 5.1 host with 4 guests: 1 WS2008 x64, 2 WS2003 x86, 1 WS2003 x64

If I back up the host, will there be any guest outages during backup?

ESx 5.1 is not yet supported  for now you would need to backup the guest machines individually as physicall boxes by installing the remote agent on the machines themselves. SP2 will more than likely be released before months end. Support for ESX 5.1 will be included so you should be able to backup the host box without issue and at that time you should not see and guest outages durring backups

Thanks; knew we were waiting on SP2 for WS2012 & EX2013 support. Now we have another reason to look forward to SP2. Glad it's finally getting close.

As 5.0 once 5.1 is supported you can backup the Host and it will protect all the guests while they are online WITHOUT any outages :)
