Erase Schedule

Hi Everyone, Is there a way to erase an RDX Cartridge via a schedule, at the moment the backup is set to run an inventory of the cartridge at 1730 then the full backup at 1800. But for some reason the backup seems to fail even though I have removed all forms of retention. If I manually erase the tape prior to 1730 everything seems to work OK and I have a full SDR compliant backup, is there a way to schedule the erase or is there any settings I can check to see if the data on the cartridge is being retained elsewhere. Hi,

Nope, this isn't possible. You should ensure that your append/overwrite protection settings are correct so that the RDX cartridge is ready for use when the job runs.

Otherwise you need to be happy with manually erasing the tape each night before the backup runs.

An RDX Cartridge is a disk, not a tape.  Therefore there is no "erase job" for it, rather you would go delete backup sets (using BE GUI, Storage tab).  There are not append/overwrite settings for disk cartridge, you simply set the amount of time the data should be retained.

...thanks for the clarification...putting tape in after correctly identifying it as a cartridge was a slight lapse.
