Hi everyone!

I need to erase a Tape but I don't know wich tape or the name of the tape that is going to use the library. How can I use the pre command utility to erase any tape that is going to use the backup job?

I don't know if Im clear with this...

You cannot erase by media set.  At the minimum, you must know the slots that contain the tapes that you want to erase.  See the BEMCMD -o111 switch on page 64 of the manual below

You do not need to erase a tape before using it if you have set the OPP correctly.  If you need to make a tape immediately overwriteable, just right-click on it in the Media tab and associate it with the scratch media set.

To understand how BE searches for tapes, read this document

How Backup Exec searches for overwritable media

But, if I want to erase the media before the backup start, wich command should I use? Remember that I don't know the name of the media, just the name of the media set.

Thx!
