Error 1714.The older version of Symantec Backup Exec for Windows systems...

Greetings,

I'm trying to do a manual install of the 11d remote agent on a W2k3 box. http://support.veritas.com/docs/258982

I get this error: "Error 1714.The older version of Symantec Backup Exec for Windows systems cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." Then, the setup program exits.

Previously the 10.0.5484 RA was manually installed, and Add/Remove programs wouldn't remove it, so a manual uninstall looked like the way to go.

http://support.veritas.com/docs/232443 looked promising, but hasn't resolved the issue. I even tried removing the "10A55C2358659574A8CDA75C2E1CFCCA" key, although that's supposed to be for W2k systems only.

Help...?

Have you rebooted the system once after the uninstallation of previous remote agent ? If no do so and then retry.
