Error Unable to attach to one of the drives

Hello,

I get the following error message when I am trying to restore an Exchange database on a test server.

0xa000848c - unable to attach to one of the drives.

This server is a test server built specifically for this restore, and the server name, exchange organization, and admin info have been copied exactly as they are on the production machine. The only difference that I can think of is that there is only 1 HD here, while as production is running raid and has additional HD installed, but even with redirection I get the same error.

Thanks for your help.

hello,

Try this solution:

Title : Microsoft Exchange mailbox backup performed with VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.0 fails with the error "Unable to attach to one of the drives" even though the mailboxes are successfully backed up.

Thank you for the quick answer, however this is not the problem that I am experiencing. The article it would seem deals with when you are trying to back up the mailbox store. What I am trying to do is a restore, and not of mailbox store, but rather of the information store itself.

Still having this problem, does anyone have any ideas?

Hello,

Please follow the steps given in the following technotes.
Title:
"Unable to attach to one of the drives" error is reported while backing up remote systems

Please revert if the issue persists.

Thankgs again for the response, but alas my issue is still here.

The first article concerns remote servers, while this not the case here.

As for the second link, all I can say is that this server has been recreated with the exact identical name, login info as its predecessor, so security shouldn't be the issue.

Hello,

We are sorry that the previous information did not really help you. Nonetheless here are two more links that describe the requiremants when restoring to a different machine.

Yes, I know its a little bit late but I've ran into the same problem, although my test Exchange is a remote one. It turned out the 'Exchange System Attendent' has to run (found this in the BE knowledgebase somewhere) but because I still had the 'unable to..' error I made sure every service with "Exchange" in it was started and the stores within Exchange were dismounted.
