Error trying to install Agent in Windows Server 2003

Hi,

Today I finally got the green light from my hierarchy to start testing and upgrade our Veritas 11d software.

Our enviroment is Windows Server 2003 and 2003 R2.

The Backup Exec 2012 is on a normal 2003 server. The installation worked smoothly but the problem appeared when trying to install the agent in the other servers.

the installatin stays in the 89% and never ends.

I also tried to install the agent adding the server  (file server and exchange 2003 server) and in both cases the same result...

the process of copying files starts until the file NetFix20SP2_x86.exe, in that moment the installation stops and throws the following error:

Job Completion Status
Job started : Tuesday, October 22, 2013 12:26:52 PM Job ended : Tuesday, October 22, 2013 12:27:39 PM Final error: 0x642 - User cancelled installation. Final error category: Other Errors Completed status: Failed

any idea what can be wrong?

any place I could find the log files for the installation?

Otherwise, if you have an AV installed, disable it and then try the push-install again.

Do your installation without specifying that you want to install remote agents. Once BE is installed, you can then push out the remote agents

Hi,

I did disabled the antivirus but still no luck.

The installation throws an error right after it shows the message:

Clean up remote connections.Please wait....

Then it says..

Install failed with error code 1602.

I tried all three ways of installation the agent...

1. Remote adding server
2. Remote adding agent
3. Local installation

I managed to finish the installation in one of the servers using the method 3... on the others a message saying

Unable to run Setup.exe. Another instance is already running....

but I cannot find in the task manager the old installation running...

Hope the Windows 2003 servers are updated with SP2.

Try this one of the target servers. Copy the RAWS32/RAWSx64 + MSXML & the DotNetFx directories from the media server over to the desktop of the target server.

Open the Task Manager - Process tab. Ensure the option to show processes from all users is checked. And do confirm there isn't any other instance of Setup running.

Install .NET manually first. If this succeeds, try running setup.exe from the RAWS32 or the RAWSx64 directory.
