Error when trying to install agent on Windows Server 2008R2 Datacenter: The install encountered an unexpected error: Configuration system failed to initialize

Hi guys,

I can't seem to get the agent installed on one of my servers. I have tried to Push installation, Manual and Command Line but they all fail with the same error:

V-225-01001001-6: The install encountered an unexpected error: Configuration system failed to initialize
ERROR: Installation failed with error 1603. GetLastError = :18

The only fix Symantec lists in their archive is to repair or reinstall Framework version 2.0. I don't have any Framework 2.0 stuff on that server, only 3.5 SP1 and 4.5.1.

The server is Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter edition x86

I am running Backup Exec 2012 version 14.0

Does anyone know what to do?

Additionally, have you tried running the uitlities as mentioned in this KB to check for a presence of .NET 2.0 - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH130405

Hi there, thanks for your reply. See the bottom of my reply for the most recent installation log for that server. As for the utility mentioned in the KB, trying to see what I can do now. This is a server 2008 machine with Framework 2.0 built-in to the OS, so I don't know. Will report back.
