Evaluation - Windows/SQL/Linux Agents

Hi all,

A project I am part of are building a small data environment which will consist of 2 Windows Servers, a SQL server and 2 Linux servers (Oracle).

The client we are building this for is responsible for the purchasing of the software and licences. As part of this build we have instructed them to purchase Backup Exec 2014.

The problem is, the client is located in Malaysia and we are from the UK and we already have dates for flights to go out there and build the environment but the client says they will not be able to purchase the licence for Backup Exec prior to the build.

I need confirmation that we can still go ahead and use an evaluation version, including the Windows, SQL and Linux agents - and this will work whilst within the trial period and once it has been activated with the licence.

Regards

Michael

It would be better if you install the latest version BE 15, rather than BE 2014 which is the previous version

Bear in mind the current version is BE 15, not BE 2014 and also make sure you check the compatibility lists for both where you intend to run Backup Exec and what you intend to backup with Backup Exec.

Finally you might want to read up on how to backup Oracle on Linux, as unlike for most of the other databases we support, where once the remoet agent program is installed most of the configuration is on the Backup Exec Server,  for Oracke there are significant configuration steps needed on the remote side (as RMAN processes assist with the backup. )
