Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Servers floods the Application Log of our Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition Service Pack 2 (x86) backup media server with event ID 1309 (1+/sec for 1+ hours) - why does this happen and how can it be fixed?
Example:

There are known issues with 12.5 and w2k8R2, make sure you have at least 12.5 SP3 installed when backing up W2K8R2, ideally SP4 and check to see if these issues still exist.

Who mentioned anything about W2K8R2? Did you mean W2K3R2? We do have SP4 installed.

Sorry ignore my stupidity. Thought it said W2K8R2.

Checked it, it doesn't.

OK, then I suggest you try the following:
1. A repair of BE through Add/Remove Programs.
2. A repair of the BEDB.
3. Making sure that there are no further updates available for either BE 12.5 or WIndows.
Thanks!

How is 2 done?
There are no further updates available for either BE 12.5 or Windows.
Anyone else have any suggestion that doesn't involve reinstalling and/or repairing BE and/or BEDB?

Open up BEutility.exe (do a search for it), and then right-click your server name. Choose the option to repair the database.

...just to follow up on this: repairing the BEDB doesn't do anything obtrusive to your server. It stops the BE services, repairs any issues, and starts them up again. You won't lose any information as a result of this.
Thanks!
