I'm trying to restore a single email (exchange 2007). The restore operation finishes succesfully without any error messages, but the email is not on the inbox.
- Exchange 2007 windows 2008 SP2
- Backup exec 12.5 rev  2213 windows 2003 R2 SP2

any ideas?
Thank you.

I required Symantec support to get this working, but I was very close after following the instructions of this link: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288777.htm

Only one step is missing from this. At step 7, Exchange Server Administrator rights are granted the BE service account for a particular Exchange server.

In my case it was necessary to also grant Exchange Organization Administrator role, and to remove the Exchange View-Only Administrator role if already assigned.

After this change, I was able to restore individual messages without trouble.

There is one point that is never stated, and was helpful to me to clarify. There is NO use of the Recovery Storage Group mechanism for this operation. Individual messages are returned directly into the production database.

Hello,

Have you tried restoring any other email OR item from Exchange ?

I have tried with different emails and with tasks and nothing happens
I always get the same email:

Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers has restored one or more items to your mailbox.  After verifying that all requested items have been restored, you can delete this message. For more information, contact your system administrator and refer to the job history for job <Restore 00104>.

Have you tried staging to disk first BEFORE restoring from the staged files?
I see that your temporary staging area is C:\Temp...I know for a fact that if you don't have enough disk space, it does cause issues with restores from Exchange.
Take a look here, try it, and post the results...

OK, I followed the instructions on the document, I also changed the temporary staging area and to H:\temp....the staging took 2:,5 h and the same for the restore and I got nothing, the same email telling the restore took place, but when I check my inbox the emails are not there. The restore doesn't report any errors

I've had the same issue for months now. I've tried contacting Symantec on the phone multiple times but they haven't been able to fix the problem. I decided to try again today but have been on hold for over an hour and half. All this with an essential support contract!

Does anybody have a solution for this?
