Exchange backup speed

 Hi,
I am backing up Exchange 2003 data. Exchange is located on a remote server. I am using Backup Exec 9.1
Backup speed is about 39mb per minute. So far it took me 13 hours to backup 33GB of data. Is this normal?

Exchange is running on a Xeon server with 1GB RAM. Backup Exec is running on PIII server with 512mb RAM. Backing up over 100mb LAN to a VXA2 autoloader attached to the PIII server.

Thanks in advance
Rodger

If the 39mb/min is backing up the mailboxes then yes.  Your information store should be faster to backup

Hi Rodger,

If you have the Exchange agent licensed and installed, all you need do is select your Information Store in the backup selection list. It should be a hell of a lot quicker than 39mb/m.
Are you getting the same sort of speeds when backing up files? If so, it could point to network speed, or the specs for your media server which might need additional RAM.
