Exchange restore redirection and No Loss Restore

Hi,

I seem to be stuck in a loop with BE12.5 and a restore.

A client has accidentally deleted the mailbox of a user who was on maternity leave, user has now returned to find all her old emails are deleted.

I want to restore a copy of the Information Store to an alternative location on the Exchange Server so that I can then mount the database as a Recovery Group and export the data from there. However when I have set the restore job and try to run it I get the error message " if you redirect the restore of a Microsoft 2000 later storage group or database and you also select the No Loss Restore OPtion, the database may not be able to mount after the restore"

So I clear the No Loss Restore but still get the same error message? What's also confussing is that No Loss Restore is listed under the Exchaneg 5.5 options but we use Exchange 2003.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason.

HI,

do you know the concept of the Recovery Storage Groups ?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126/en-us
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/264815.htm

Databases before Exchange 2010 has only a limited possibilty of beeing rehomed, so dont try it, except you have really gone through the DR Whitepapers from MS.
It was nearly impossible with exchange 5.5, and got better with each version.
