Good day,
I have VCenter 4.1 with 1 Vsphere 4.1 Host using a SAN storage. Checking all the pre-requisites for backup to disk with BE 2010 r3 im sure everything will be okay but when i try to run a back up job i receive a Job completed with warning. "Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images. Restores that use Granular Recovery Technology may not be available from this backup set."
I then tried to tager BE 2010 to Vsphere host rather than the VCenter and everything is successfull but when i tried to run again using the VCenter i then get the same results.
Does anybody have an idea why this error appears when i target to VCenter and completes when targets to ESX host?
Done almost all the suggestions, directly to ESX host is ok but i think it would be much better if i can do it from VCenter.
Thank you.

Maybe this is caused by having the special character "&" in the password for the account used to backup the virtual machines or in the name of the virtual machine directory or name.

Hi,
Thanks for the response, i did what the documents have suggested. we are already using our domain admin user, added it to the root of vcenter at the same time set it as the account to be used in the back up services.
Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Does it happen on all the Vm's or particular?
Does You Vcenter backup account has a Password containing the "&" symbol?
if so try changin the password without the "&' symbol and try the backup
Ensure That there is No Cd/DVD images or iso is Mounted
Try to reinstall the VMware tools on the Affected Vm with Vmware snapshot provider and try.
If not try installing the BE vss provider (instlals along with Beremote agent or can be installed manually)

Thanks Nhoj,
I notice in our VCenter 4 that we have "Host & Clusters" folder, so checking if hothing will go wrong if i rename the folder i change it to "Host and Folders" and it work.
That is why when we were testing on a VCenter 5 it doesn't have any errors and warnings because instead of "Host & Clusters" i had created TEST folder.
Thanks again.
