Failed to set central administration Server

JessePAIT

I'm getting an error when trying to set an existing Backup Exec 2010 R3 installation to point to a new Central Administration server I just created.

Error read" Failed to set the central administration server. The remote media server is not a central administration server.  You must select a central administration server."  However the new server is and I have a media servers tab in the ribbon.  Not sure what to check at this point

Any advice?
