Check for IPV6 on the servers (SQL and BE media server) and disable it if enabled and see if that helps.

If you are trying to backup sql DB installed on media server, you can backup that from DATA folder within BE installation directory. BE saves a copy of it's own database everyday. Backingup that file is enough for BE DB recovery.

EDIT: Screenshot not showing BACKUPEXEC instance. So smight be a different server. If so, I presume that you have Applications and Databases license installed on media server.

See this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH38984

Referring to very old verisons of BE but looked promising to me. Just give a try...

Assign the system administrator role on SQL instance to System Logon Account and try selection.

Hi

Why don't you install SQL studio & try logging to SQL instance with SQL studio does it works?

Thanks
