Failure to browse 'Vault Store DB'

We have one Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 server (vSphere 5 VM, win srv 2008 r2 sp1) with databases on SQL server 2005 standard with SP4 (vSphere 5 VM, win srv 2003 x64 sp2).

Backup Exec Server is 2012 SP1a with the latest hotfixes and there is agent (with the same version) installed on both servers, all servers are in same domain. The backup storage is Deduplication Disk.

We have backup service account that has domain admin privileges, is EV Power administrator, is Local admin on all servers, is SQL sysadmin and all the permission checks are successful. Also, we have tried using EVSVC account that have all the correct privileges on EV and SQL server.

During browsing in the selection list windows we get error  Failure to browse 'Vault Store DB'.

Browse Failure

Failure to brows 'Vault Store DB' (<servername>\<vaultDB>)

For the Backup Exec Enterprice Vault Agent, the Enterprise Vault services are not responding to commands by Backup Exec. Ensure that the Enterprise Vault Directory Service is running.

When we perform backups on any other EV resource the backup completes successfully, with the exception on this Vault Store DB. But since this DB is critical to the EV environment we have big issue here.

I am not sure if this is connected but EV 10.0.3 is not yet supported with BE. As per the SCL we so support only upto EV 10.0 SP2.

As for the issue that you are facing, have you tried to use the EV service account in BE to do the browse. That might work.

Few questions:

1. Do you have single vault store ? If you have multiple vault stores, are you facing this problem for all vault store DBs ?

2. Is your vault store DB configured on the same SQL server you mentioned above ?

3. Are you able to prefrom backup of open partition of the same vault store ?
