I have a problem with Veritas BackUp Exec 10.d for Windows 2003 Server.

After update application from verion 10.0 to 10.d it can not start. When I init “Symantec Backup Exec 10d for Windows Servers” open the windows and immediately closed and appears the next error in Event Viewer:

I have tested to uninstall and install again, but the problem following.

 

I don’t find information about this problem and how to resolve.

 

The application is installed in Dell Power Edge 2650 Server and use Dell Power Vault 124 Unit. Also it is installed in Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2.

 

How to resolve this problem? Any people have the same problem?

I recently started getting the exact same error message on a Win 2003 SBS server when trying to launch the user interface except that the fault address on this server is 0x00000000. This Backup Exec 10d installation had been working fine for the last 1.5 years. The only thing that has changed recently was the Administrator password was changed about 3 days before the problem appeared.
 
The backups seem to be running ok according to the event viewer logs but the user interface will not run.
 
Can anyone provide a solution to this problem?

I have found a solution. In my case, I have to install LANDesk Remote Control and this software install secondary VGA controller. If I try to start Veritas console through LANDesk Remote Control, console is closed immediately, but when I start console from local server, without use Remote Control Tools, console run OK.

This system does not have LanDesk. I am pretty sure that the problem is caused by saved login credentials for the Backup Exec user interface that do not match what the Administrator password has been changed to.
 
Can anyone tell me how to change or unsave the login credentials that are automatically used when the Backup Exec user interface is opened?
 
There are steps in the Knowledge base on how to change a password but they all assume that you can runthe user interface to begin with. It is pretty hard to change a login or password when you cannot get the user interface to load.
 
I'm pretty sure that if I can change the login/password or at least get it to prompt for them when it loads that the user interface will load.
