Faulting application bengine.exe

I am running a windows 2003 server with exchange 2003 SP2.
We are having problems with Veritas backup exe 9.1 with SP4.

Ever since we replaced our faulty tape drive with a new one of the same spec the bengine.exe fails twice every day at about the same time.

The error we get is:

I have uninstalled backup exec and re-installed. And pushed out the remote agent to all the remote servers. We have about 10 different backup Jobs backing up 7 servers. The other 3 jobs are because we have split the backup of the mailboxes and info. store to see if we could narrow the problem down.

The bengine will fail during the night with the error above and the next backup will return with error: Backup cancelled by user.

I have run the Database repair tool and it found no errors.

Thanks for you help.

Hello,

A few thinks to check to resolve this error are:

1. In Backup Exec go to Tools> Options> Preferences and see if "Display Progress Indicators" is checked. If so uncheck the check box for "Display Progress Indicators" and click on the "OK" button to apply the change
2. Try renaming the "Catalogs" folder.

Stop all Backup Exec services
Go to Root Drive:\\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT
Rename the "Catalogs" folder to "Catalogs_OLD"
Start all of the backup Exec Services
3. If the above steps do not help download an run Microsoft Component Checker and verify there are no miss matched DLL's for MDAC.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have looked at the "display progress indicators" and it has always been cleared. I will try to rename the catalog files.
