File Restore Bombs

lapidarynewbie
Level 3
1. Backup Exec 12.5
2. Media server and all remotes are Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard

A restore job fails with an E0008444 but a SQL Server restore, from the same catalog, works just fine. I've already done the following:

1. Re-cataloged the media.
2. Gone through with BEutil and run all standard catalog repairs (index, full catalog).

Still a file restore bombs. If the catalog is actually corrupt, why would the restore bomb yet a SQL Server restore from the same catalog runs successfully?

Your soonest insight would be appreciated as the test restore of files is a requirement to meet internal disaster recovery testing.

Try splitting your file system and SQL data in separate backup jobs and then check the results of trying a restore
