Hi,

I have been getting this error for the backups, I don't know what to do. We don't have support anymore and have tried checking the KB articles but nothing helps.

We have dell Data domain with CIFS Share, where our application guys dump their backups. From that share, we take backup via Symantec Backup exec and store it in tape. However, after taking backup for approx 10 ~11 TB job fails with this error everytime. Can someone please help or suggest something on this.

I have below errors and exceptions also.

Errors

File XXX was not found, or could not be accessed.
File YYY was not found, or could not be accessed.

Exceptions

V-79-57344-3844 - The Backup Exec server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on machine Dell Data Domain
The Backup Exec server will use the local agent to try to complete the operation.

Would recommend you checkout these TNs if you haven't already - the top one is the most informative:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100023357 - Backup job fails with error 0xe000fe36 - Corrupt data encountered (a000fe36 HEX or e000fe36 HEX)

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100009677 - Backup job fail with (V-79-57344-34108) 0xe000fe36 - Corrupt data encountered error

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100001466 - Backups failing with error "The media server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on machine SERVERNAME."

Additionally I'd be tempted to look at whether tape heads need a clean/cleaning tapes have expired etc.

Also have you tried a backup writing to disk instead of to tape to see if this works, to try and narrow down the problem?
