Firewall Ports once and for all. ANYONE?

This is VERY frustrating. I have 2 servers in a DMZ and I need to back them up. I have been through every article already. I have the following ports open as listed and have 11d with remote agents installed.
This does NOT work !
Jobs fail with error: The media server could not connect to the remote computer. The remote computer may not exist on the selected subnet.

I can establish connection to the remote agent and generate my selection list. Jobs fail immediately saying they can not connect to the remote computer.

  • Port 6101 inbound and out.
  • Port 10000 outbound only from internal to DMZ
  • Port 30000 inbound only from DMZ to Internal
  • Port 30001 outbound only from internal to DMZ
  • Port 30002-30027 inbound only from DMZ to internal
  • Anyone have Any clue???

What device are you using to filter traffic?
Can it be configured to log anything blocked? That should tell you where the problem lies.

linux or windows? i would try to check logs maybe you find something... also you can use a network sniffer...
tcpdump or ethereal and see the traffic...

      Try this document:
      http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/285830.htm

Looks like BE 9-10 use random ports to communicate with Remote Agent once the connection's been made on the control port.  I'd have to do some more reading to figure out if that's how 11d works.  Is that what your rules for ports 30000-30027 are for?
