Format Degaussed Tape using SDX-700C

We purchased some used tapes, I know....., any way they had been degaussed. the degaussing process wiped out the format of corse. I do not seem to be able to get the SDX-700C drive to format the tapes. We are using BE 10. The tapes are AIT-3

- Do you receive any error message?

- Can the tape be formatted with nt backup?

- Kindly note:

Degaussing is a low-level form of erasingmedia, which will completely remove all data from the media, and requiresspecialized degaussing hardware. Degaussing and demagnetizing are not the same.Please do not manually demagnetize the media in an attempt to degauss the media
