Is it possible to free up space from failed jobs?
We are using BE 2010 R2 on a 2008 Server.
All backups are to disk if that makes any difference!
We have room for 3 or 4 backups on our offsite disks but with a couple of failed jobs due to network problems we no longer have space to run the job.
Thanks in advance.

Failed jobs that have a byte count might stil have some restorable data in the backup set from before the failure (depending on the failure and when it happens and what you are backing up), hence the backup sets are still subject to the same expiry protection as a sucessful backup. As such you would have to manually expire the sets from inside the console in order to free up the space.
I agree but as it is almost impossible to see what is missing from the backup so I tend to just resubmit the job anyway. It would be a useful feature to be able release all resources from a failed (or any other) job.
