Getting access denied during system state backup

I am getting the following error during our incremental backups but not on every run, it is sporadic. The job could run succesfully then all of a sudden fail with access denied. The accounts clearly have access (or else all runs of the job would fail). Running a job of just the system is successfull also. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

To back up or restore System State, administrator privileges are required.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

You need administrative privileges to backup System State...does the account has them?

You may see https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/snapshot-provider-error-0xe000fe7d-access-denied-back...

If the server that you are backing up the system state from, is a DC, then you would need to use a domain admin account.  This is because the system state of a DC contains AD which requires domain admin privileges to back up.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. The server is a domain controller however the account being used to run the backups is part of the domain admins group. The weird thing with this is that it does not error every job, only occasional ones (mainly incrementals though).

Can you please describe the job setup, if it only includes one server, or many, and if it also includes other resources such as SQL Server, or Exchange? Please clarify the selection list contents, the version of Backup Exec and affected the Windows Server, the AOFO settings, and if the backup job is contained in a policy.

Thanks,
