Hi All,

I am getting an error below:

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\cpqcissm2."

The Backup Server is getting restarted again and again

and backup jobs are getting failed after running for a while.

I am using BE 12 version with latest patches.

Kindly assist.

Regards,

Vivek Parmar

This is a hardware error. If you are backing up to tape, run the manufacturer's diagnostics utility against the tape library/drive. Make sure you select the write test and that you have stopped all the BE services beforehand. If there are any errors in the test, consult the tape drive vendor

Hi Pkh,

Just want to know why is the server getting restarted due to this error?

Can you help me fix the restart issue?

Regards,

Vivek Parmar

This is an OS and/or hardware problem and is not appropriate for this forum

Hi Pkh,

But as soon as I start a backup job and it starts running I face this issue of server restart.

If no job is running the server is up and online(dosent restart)

I would suggest disabling or uninstalling any HP Insight manager stuff you have installed.

See if this helps  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314093

What is connected to this HBA?

Are you using tape for the backup?  If so, make sure the HBA for the tape drive is supported. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH70907

Possibly because the tape drive is not being used unless a backup is started. Do you get the same issue, when you disable the tape unit in BE and run a backup to disk ?
