Will Backup Exec 10.x work with HP StorageWorks DAT 72 (Internal) USB (DW026A)?

I can see the device functioning properly in the Device Manager (Windows 2003) but Device Configuration Wizard does not detect it.

Any solutions?

Hello,

1) Please check if the Device is Supported with Backupexec:

Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers (tm) 10d (10.1) Hardware Compatibility List. Includes HCL information for supported drives, libraries, virtual tape devices, fibre-channel HBAs, switches, routers/bridges, and iSCSI components. For printing purposes, the latest version of Acrobat is recommended.

If it is, install the following Latest Drivers:

Symantec Backup Exec (tm) 10d (10.1.5629) - Device Driver Installer (20060215) - Includes Tape Driver Release (09) and Robotic Library Release (52) (Intel Only)

2) Stop and Deaktivate the Removable Storage Service.

Tapeinst.exe wont install a driver. If you look at the HCL it notes you have to be running the HP driver.

As I mentioned in my last post. HP Drivers are installed and functional. I think tapeinst.exe should detect the tape drive so I can start using it. After it scans, no tape drives are detected.Message was edited by:

I had exactly the same problem but with the HP Storage Works DAT 72 external USB drive. After many hours on the phone to technical support trying many different things the only thing that worked was upgrading to 10.1/10.d which has better usb device support. You can upgrade for free by following this link;

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/279332.htm

Hope this helps

I can't believe I wasted so much time trying to make it work. The upgrade worked fine and now the drive is detected without any hassle.

They need to update the Compatibility List for 10.0.
