I'm trying to configure Backup Exec in 2014 to backup directly from my Oracle based on the Oracle Database version 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0, installed on Ubuntu 10.10, but is giving an error in the Agent Utility configuration as prints below:

I installed the RALUS on my Linux server, applied the SP2 and set the RALUS as follows:

Oracle02.png

In my routine Backup Exec 2014 set up to connect to Oracle and I can list my Oracle base, as follows:

Oracle01.png

When I run the backup routine, the error below, arguing that the Agent Utility is not properly configured:

Oracle03.png

When I configure Agent Utility on my Backup Exec 2014 Server of the error below:

Oracle04.PNG

I don't know if I'm following the correct procedure, you are missing settings if the Backup Exec 2014 is compatible with Oracle Linux, etc. Can anyone give me some help on this, please?

Tks!

You do not configure the remote agent on the media server because the Oracle instance is not on the media server.

I am just guessing, but could the problem be the whitespaces after dev?

To backup Oracle DBs, configuration on the Oracle Server and the BE server both are required.

Your screenshots do not show any configuration done on the BE server.

Please follow this KB article for the steps on how to do so - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075846

VJware,

The problem is precisely this, see the screenshot that when I try to set on my Backup Exec server error "Invalid Oracle SID name". After that mistake, I do not know what to do to try to solve.

Tks!!

The Remote Agent Utility is configured on the remote Oracle server. This is NOT configured on the BE server.

On the BE server, you have to set the authentication credentials which is set from BE button - Configuration & Settings - Backup Exec Settings - Oracle.

Please follow the below KB articles -

On Oracle Server - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075847

On Oracle Server - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075852

On BE Server - https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075858

This is what I said earlier, but you contradicted it and said that the user needs to configure the remote agent utility on the media server

@pkh - Nopes, I never mentioned that. This is verbatim from my first comment -

To backup Oracle DBs, configuration on the Oracle Server and the BE server both are required.

Your screenshots do not show any configuration done on the BE server.

I mentioned configuration on the BE media server is required (which is still valid), but no where do I mention that the Remote Agent utility is to be configured on the media server. Thanks.

Other than the remote agent utility, what is there to configure on the media server?

Hi VJware,

This KB (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075847) It is for when the instance of Oracle is installed on a Windows machine, correct?

This KB (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075852) I tried to set up with the user I created in my Oracle server but is giving the error below:

Oracle.PNG

This (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000075858) I just set up.

Capture1.PNG

Only reinforcing my Backup Exec Server is a Windows and My Oracle I am testing is now a Red Hat.

Tks!

Hi VJware,

See the RALUS settings, it's ok, right?

00003.PNG

The user 'root' and 'oracle' already in the 'beoper' group.

00001.PNG

I configured the 'oracle' user authentication.

00002.PNG

In the Backup Exec server of the same error as before.
