Help - BackupExec 11d SP4 Device Pools and Media sets disappeared

Hello,

I've inherited a bit of a mess. The other day our backups failed and I noticed our media sets and device pools are missing. I searched through the forum and google. I followed a few suggestions.

1. Applied the lastest patches for BE
2. Ran hardware diagnostics on our tape library HP MSL 2024
3. Disabled the removable storage service and verified the dcom settings.
4. Re-plugged in all cabling.
5. Ran cleaning tape through drive.
6. Re-plugged in scsi card.
7. Re-install all drivers, symantec and device

I've also tried adding a new device pool which i get "there are no other devices to add to this device pool"

I don't notice any visible errors through the application or systems log. There is a sql error , Login failed for user ". The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection"

Any suggestions?

I had that happen recently - it ended up being the account used for the Backup Exec Device and Media Service being incorrect. It had been reset  to a local system account and needed to be a domain level account (in my case a service account with domain admin privilages)
