Host ID question

Hi all,

I have a question about backup exec 2012, the host id im seeing in the server specs is the host id (ip) from another vlan on this server thats not reachable from the backup server.

It should connect over another IP, is there a way to change the host id?
If i ping the server from the backup server its ok and uses the right IP (in DNS)

...if you can't change the remote server's IP address, then you need to route this within DNS itself, or do this via the media server's hosts file.

Hi,

Well the remote server has 2 interfaces, i have one vlan specialy for backup.

normal Vlan1. Backup server --> initiate client side dedup backup --> server to be backuped

backup Vlan2. Server to be backuped --> deduplication storage

First all was in one Vlan and this worked, right now its not working anymore.
Im trying to troubleshoot it now and noticed the Host id for the server i want to backup is in Vlan 2 and this should be the ip in Vlan 1.

Strange thing is if i ping the server from the backup server its replying with the ip from vlan 1 so that ok, the host id is from vlan 2 not even reachable from this server.
